Three Counties Ride (…in the snow)

So the wind and rain have finally stopped (or eased in the case of the wind), so no excuses for not getting out on a training ride.  The Lune and Stainmore “Forests” are two beautiful areas of northern moorland, so what better than a circuit over the moors?

Panorama ahead to Mickle Fell shows I’ll be in the snow.
…and before dropping down into Brough, there’s plenty of snow.
Welcome to Cumbria!
Pint and a packet of crisps at the Tan Hill Inn.
The view forward to Bowes, and then the car!

Mostly a cold day, with feet feeling it especially.  The first half was riding into a headwind, but then payback time on the south leg of the ride.  Beautiful!

You can check out the details of the ride on Strava.

65km of riding, with 1450m of climbing.
